Book to be written

Yes, I know, I was to finish a book called, "The Potato Cellar" by this Spring! I had some of it written, when I got side-tracked by something that I must write before this one. Go figure! It is a work in progress and is going to take extreme research in which I am ready to do in early Spring 2013. I also will be finishing up a "Roots/Bluegrass" CD. Hmmm...wonder if I could build a house at the same time! (LOL)

Becky Buller Baby Shower Celebration

What a better Spring gift than receiving a baby girl in March! Romey Elizabeth Haley! Because it is Becky Buller's daughter to be, I would assume she will be a fiddle player! We celebrated her baby to be with a wonderful baby shower held at "The Inheritance", a reception hall that is connected to a historical plantation home. There were so many bluegrass musicians and songwriters that attended, that we would have been a promoter's dream! We are all happy for Becky and wish her the best!

Come on out and experience a slice of life in the Cedar Valley from the early days of settlement. There will be plenty of hands-on activities to try like candle dipping, pioneer toys, two-man saw, butter churning and other pioneer activities.VSLP performance is scheduled at 3:30 pm on the Frostville stage.

This concert is to benefit and promote the International Bluegrass Music Museum. I'll even get to visit with former Liberty Pike fiddle/mandolin player Andy Leftwich. My show times are Saturday at 3:30, 5:00, & 6:30 & for Sunday 12:00, 2:30 & 4:30. If Valerie should receive the reward, she unfortunately will not be attending this year's events due to her recording schedule in Florida.

Valerie & Liberty Pike will be back in Florida the first weekend in April for the Florida State Bluegrass Festival April 1 & 2 in Perry,FL. Then on the 3rd we will be performing at Hollowpoint Farm in Bushnell, FL. Hope you can come out enjoy the shows.

Nashville Traditions Comes To Bell Buckle Banquet Hall

The Bell Buckle Banquet Hall and Theatre in historic downtown Bell Buckle, Tenn., is pleased to announce that they are new the hosts of Nashville Traditions, which airs on WSM 650 AM. Join them this Thursday night, Jan. 6 at 6:00 CST for a fun-filled evening. "We at Nashville Traditions are very excited to announce that our next two shows will be recorded at the new Bell Buckle Banquet Hall and Theatre," said Alan Keckritz, the show's producer. "We hope to make Bell Buckle our little home away from home."
Thursday's guests include Chris Scruggs, King of the Hillbilly Pickers and grandson of banjo legend Earl Scruggs; Phillip Steinmetz and the Sunny Tennesseans, great nephew of Grandpa Jones; and Shane Adkins, five-time world champion thumbstyle guitarist. The show will air on Jan. 21st.
The show will be co-hosted by Bell Buckle's hometown Americana darlings Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike featuring Becky Buller.
Admission is $15 for the show plus a BBQ buffet from the world-famous Bell Buckle Cafe. Tickets for music only are $5. Doors open and the buffet begins at 6 pm. The music starts at 7 pm. Come early and enjoy antiquing and other fine shopping while you wait, all within walking distance of the banquet hall.
Nashville Traditions is broadcast weekly after the Friday night Grand Ole Opry on 650 WSM and online at WSMOnline.com from midnight to 1 am CST.

Blame It On The Bluegrass

 This past week Becky Buller and J. Gregory Heinke made a special trip up to the International Bluegrass Music Museum (IBMM) in Owensboro, Ky., to film director Gabrielle Gray and board member Ross Leazenby about the significance of Valerie Smith's brand new record, Blame It On The Bluegrass. Video footage will be appearing on YouTube around the time of the album's release, Jan. 11, 2011.
Blame It On The Bluegrass is the first album to be recorded at the the IBMM, but it won't be the last. The museum already has plans in the works for an in-house studio and live recordings of groups involved in their annual concert series, proving, yet again, that the IBMM is a place where bluegrass history is MADE...as well as preserved.
